What do I need to know about rubber plant staking?

I am getting ready to stake my plants and just want to make sure I do it correctly.

For the best results place the stake close to the edge of the container. This will cause less damage to the plant's roots. Repotting the plant into a larger container and adding the stake at that time is an option.

When you stake your rubber plants remember that you are using the stake to add support that the stem is having a difficult time providing the tops of the plants. Don't put the stake through the leaves, or where they grow, or the roots, and tie the stem gently.

Add the stake when you re-pot the plant, so that you can minimize damage to the root structure. Otherwise, place the stake on the outer edge of the pot.

If this is a potted plant, consider repotting it and adding stakes at that time. This way you avoid damaging the roots. If not ready for repotting, carefully slide the stakes down the sides of the pot and then use nylon stockings to tie the plant to them.

Be careful not to put the stakes through the roots or leaves. Try add them around the edges of the pot. And tie them gingerly. If it is a potted plant, maybe re-pot and put the stakes in at that time. Rubber plants can grow very tall. And need support.

If you are putting two stakes by it just run the string around the plant then the stakes if you are using three do it the same way but make sure you dont get the strings to tight around the dtems they will cut them.
