If you want to become an animal rescue cop then you should talk to your local commissioner. Usually animal control is run through the county.

It will help if you have some kind of backround in animal care. also in most cities you need to pass a civil service test as well as a physical.

A history of working with animals, and knowledge of animal rights/bylaw offences in your state or province, along with no criminal record.

Animal rescues are done by two groups: animal control and regular police. Animal control officers were called "dog catchers", but they capture all kinds of animals. Go to the city and apply for this division. Other rescues are by police, which is a 2 year degree.
