Low GI diet is necessary to lose weight and avoid various diseases in future. It includes fruits, vegetables, wholegrain breads, pulses, nuts, seeds, oats, low fat cheese, yogurt etc. Instead of avoiding oily fish and meat completely, one can take it once or twice in a week. You can eat anything with low sugar. I would recommend eating whole wheat bread and also nuts are good as well. You can also do some pizza but it has to be vegetarian. Add some beans and your good to go. Also, you should totally avoid meats of all sorts.

On a low GI diet, you should eat foods rich in fiber and complex carbohydrates. Foods such as oatmeal, whole grains (whole wheat, millet, teff, quinoa), and legumes take a long time to digest and do not raise blood sugar as much as foods like sugar and white flour.A lower glycemic index food will keep you feeling fuller, and more satisfied, for longer.
