That entirely depends on the motivation you would need to understand the personality before you could decide why they had the tattoo. Outcomes will range from: Identity Crisis, Love, Anger, Attention Seeking, Cultural (Metal Fans, Gang Members), Family Stuff (MOM), accidental (drunk, young), peer pressure and finally individualism and creativity.

Usually a tattoo will tell you the tastes of the person wearing it, for example skull will tell you the person like dark things while roses tell about sensitivity.

Tattoos have become incredibly mainstream, so in my humble opinion, just having one doesn't say much about one's personality. What the tattoo looks like may clue you in.

Having a tattoo has a less rebellious connotation than it once had. Depending on where and what the tattoo is, it can be a highly conformist act. Uncommon tattoo designs tend to indicate an individualistic nature, while run of the mill "tramp stamp" tattoos are less complimentary to the personality.

If a person has a tattoo on them it could mean that they want to express their freedom, care free nature to everyone. This shows how manly or in females case, how much courage they have to take on the pain. It shows that they have in them to take on even the worst of things in life.

A tattoo does not necessarily say anything about a person's personality. There are as many reasons to get a tattoo as there are tattoos. For some people, they have deep personal meaning. For others, they just like the art. And, for many people, they're just stylish.
