A repeated motion by a young child which appears involuntary may be a motor tic. It may be a sign of nuerological immaturity which could be outgrown. However, in some cases, it may be an early indication of autism.

A motor tic is just another name for a physical tic. Examples might be repetitive blinking, jaw clenching, or even foot tapping. Motor tics are different than vocal tics.
