As with any abnormal color of stools, white stools are a definate sign of a possibly more serious health problem that should not be ignored. Various organs play a role in digestion and the passing of waste out of our bodies. White stool is a sign of liver disease, as well as a problem with our digestive system.

If you are having white stools it could be one of two things, your bowls are lacking in bile or you have excess mucus in your stools.

The brown color in your bowel movements is caused by bile. White stools means that either you are not producing enough bile or something is blocking your bile ducts. It could be caused by a problem in your liver, so it's best to see a doctor as soon as possible.

There are two possibilities on why you are having white bowel movements. First, there could be an obstruction of the biliary duct (gallstones, inflammation, fibrosis, cancer). Secondly, there could be an obstruction of the outflow of the bile from the liver due to a liver disease.
