What does the yellow wire on a ceiling fan light go to?

The Yellow wire is the for the light. It allows you to have a seperate cicuit switch for the light and the fan. If you had a 2 switch wall plate, one could control the fan while the second could control the light.

The yellow wire goes to the general connection to the ground for the purpose of protection. In case of a leak of electric current to the metallic body parts, it is directed and discharged to the ground to avoid electric shock.

the yellow wire is so you can put the fan and light attachments of the fan on seperate switches if desired.

I think it connects with the other electrical wires in the house and it's in charge of maintaining proper lighting in the house and supplying the power for the fan to carry out various functions.

A yellow wire usually goes to a switch - and is usually the switched live wire. However, there is no guarantee that this is actually the case, and you should always check it (and of course, be sure the power is switched OFF at the circuit breaker). Also, check the manual that came with the fixture.
