Death by hanging is still legal in three states. Other methods include electrocution and lethal injection. The state of Nebraska ruled that execution by electrocution was unconstitutional and was considered "cruel and unusual." There have been cases when electrocution was no immediately effective and the inmate was then electrocuted again until successful. Some states let the inmate decide the method.

Many forms of execution are legal in the united states. The most common are: firing squad, electric chair, and lethal injection.

While a firing squad may have been legal in the U. S. in the past, there are no states that currently use this technique for executions.  add a comment
