The Hindenburg was a German-built air ship that made trips between Germany and the United States in 1937. On May 6, 1937 the Hindenburg caught fire and crashed as it was docking in at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey. There are many hypotheses about how it caught fire but it was filled with hydrogen which was highly flammable.

The Hindenburg was a large airship that caught fire in 1937, killing 36 people and injuring others. The reason was it used hydrogen to float instead of helium.
