Offense: 1 quarterback 2 running backs 5 lineman 1 tightend 2 wide receivers Defense: 4 lineman 3 linebackers 4 defensive backs You also have the kicker and punter. Both offensive and defensive lineups have players set out to do specific things ranging from blocking other players or the skill players who take care of moving the ball.

For the offense: quarterback, 2 guards, 2 tackles, a tight end, fullback, halfback, and 3 receivers. On defense: strong safety, weak safety, 2 cornerbacks, linebackers, and the defensive line (nose guard, defensive tackle, and defensive end). Depending on the defensive scheme; 3 linebackers with 2 tackles and 2 defensive ends or 4 linebackers with a nose guard and 2 ends.

There is an offense, a defense and a special teams unit. Special teams is responsible for the kicking (kicking off, punting, field goals). The offense includes the quarterback, the offensive line (in charge of protecting him), wide receivers and running backs. The center hikes him the ball.
