What is a Catholic communion?

I was invited to communion with my religious friend, and I have no idea what to expect.

Partaking of bread and wine during the Catholic mass service is considered communion. Non-catholics cross their arms over their chest and receive only a blessing.

If this is a first communion, then it is a religious rite of passage ceremony like a baptism. Communion itself is the ceremony of taking the sacrement. If you have ever seen the priest give the waffer and the wine on television, then you have a basic idea of what communion is.

Catholic Communion is the ritual of accepting the body of Christ, in the form of a communion wafer. It is offered by the priest.
