Question by  Girl (26)

What is a "cookie" in computer terms.

When something is wrong on my computer they always tell me to check my cookies, or something about cookies. Well I have no idea what that is referring to!

consider in hotmail When entering user id and password, you can tick the options "Remember me on this computer(that is user id)" "Remember my password". So that next time you are visiting the same site, you need not type user id & password.

A web browser cookie is a piece of information stored on your computer by the browser containing information used by websites: passwords, settings, preferences, etc. Very handy if you come to the same site often!

A cookie is a small text file that is created on your computer by certain websites. This file is used for tracking certain personal information entered on the site in order to personalize and track your browsing.

A cookie is a small text file that the website saves to your computer. It allows your computer to hold information that tells the website who you are, where you've been and what you were doing. It can save website preferences, save your login information to eliminate the need to re-enter it, or track your actions for advertisers.
