This is a herniated nucleus propulsus or "slipped disk". The fiberous pad between the vertebra in the neck as torn, it puts pressure on the spinal nerves.

A disk tear in the neck is a condition in which disc in the neck vertebrae tears and can occur as the water content in the disk dries up.

As we age the disc loses some of its water content. It's similar to the disc beginning to dry out. As this occurs, the disk is susceptible to tearing on the outer edges. Those tears can lead to the formation of scar tissue, and more actual wear and tear.

A disk tear is a ruptured and torn disk that lies in between the different bones in the spinal cord. This can be very painful and lead to surgery. A torn disk can be repaired, and often is done with good affect in the near future. This is a sport related injury oftentimes.

when the annulus fibrosus gets damaged or disc collapse or rupture disc, it would create the problem of disk tear in the neck.
