Burpies are a great exercise for surfers, helping you to quickly go from the ground to your feet in seconds. Calf lifts and core workouts (abs) also help your balance.

Some good cardio activity that doesn't overexert the body and its muscles is good. Other helpful activities are cycling or jogging the tredmill combined with lots of stretching and good nutrition.

Surfing requires lots of balance as well as upper body strength. To improve your balance, it's important to work on your core (your abs and back). Sit ups will help, and you can get more mileage out of them if you do them on an exercise ball. Also, push ups and pull ups to work on your shoulders and arms!

A good workout routine is a swim routine. Swimming laps will help with your muscles and with your paddling speed when surfing.

Do lots of push-ups and use free weights to build your upper body strength. Hitting the bench press wouldn't hurt either.

Surfers need a wholistic workout to keep fit. Firstly, good nutrition is very essential. When not in the water, surfers can do balance exercises with gym ball or on a beam, multigym exercises, cycling, endurance training exercises, hand grip exercises with putty clay or hand dynamometer etc.

Circuit training is great for surfers. Make sure you use weights, too. Also, try mountain biking because that's great for cardio and leg strength. Don't train every single day, though; you always need a day of rest to let your muscles recover.

Impoving your endurance with cardio training is a good way to improve your surfing. The more stamina you have the better you will be able to keep your form when you are out there on your surf board. Distance running is a great way to improve your performance in any sport.
