You will want to build your explosive power by doing some squats and leg presses. Then go to a field and just do 40 yard dashes over and over to build up you muscles that way as well.

I would recommend practicing your runs in the 40 dash. In addition, get your legs stronger by doing weight training exercises, which would include, squats, leg extension and calf raises.

HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training. In HIIT, you go all out (as fast as you can) for a brief period of time and then rest for about half that time. For example, sprint as fast as possible for 30 seconds and then rest 15 seconds. Do this 15 - 20 times. Over time, that will increase your speed.

Running up and down stairs is an excellent way to increase strength in leg muscles and increase speed. The effort in running up the stairs will also increase your lung capacity which is also good for running.

Cardiovascular workouts will help increase your stamina, which would lead to increase of your speed. Some good workouts are swimming laps, running or sprinting either on treadmill or out in the tracks, biking or cycling class. You can also try a yoga class because this will help with your flexibility, which may be an important factor to increase speed.
