A graphic card benchmark is basically a test that tells you how good a graphics card, usually based on how many FPS it gets in a graphics intensive game.

Well to help consumer know the power of certain computer parts different places have developed "benchmarks". Basically these are standard scores achieved from using different benchmarking programs. The component is tested and then it's score is compared to the benchmark. This tells you how it compares in different aspect to another graphics card.
