What is a "salaried, non-exempt employee?"

I am confused about when a salaried person gets overtime.

This employee would receive a set salary for a specific number of hours per week. Let's say $40,000 for a 40-hour week. If that employee works more than 40 hours, s/he is then eligible for overtime (for the hours in excess of 40) in addition to his/her regular pay.

A salaried non-exempt employee is a worker who is paid a regular salary up to 40 hours per week (48 hour is some industries) and who earns overtime for additional hours worked.

In most places, a salaried, non-exempt employee is one who gets paid a certain wage for the work that he does, regardless of the hours that he works. He is not eligible for overtime if he agrees to be a salaried employee. An hourly employee is eligible for overtime but usually has less responsibility.

In Ghana, labor law permits every worker to work for eight hours so after the eight hours and there is job to perform, workers would work extra hours for overtime.
