Also known as ARP spoofing or flooding or poisoning it is actually by attackers to match the MAC address and the IP address of the host. Once this is done all the traffic meant for that address is sent to the attacker

ARP attack spoofs a computers MAC address allowing man in the middle type attacks, traffic can be modified or stopped all together
