An apico surgery is done when a rootcanal tooth is failing. A incision is done at the gum where the root would be. Then the root that is failing wil be ampitated.

Apico surgery is the removal of the root tip or "apex" of the tooth root. The area around the root tip is cleaned jor curettaged to remove any abnormal healing tissue and cystic formations. The procedure is done in the office and performed by an oral surgeon. You are kept comfortable during the procedure.

This surgery is proformed on a tooth that has had a root canal previously. It is needed when there is residual infection present at the tip of the root. A small incision is made in the gum tissue and the infection is cleaned out.

when you have infected tooth root and the tooth has been treated with previous root canal therapy that was not sucessful, the tip of the root can be removed and root tip sealed
