What is causing my LCD tv to have reception problems?

Assuming you are trying to receive a terrestrial, and not a satellite signal, your reception problems likely have one of three causes: the TV transmission tower is a long distance away or blocked from view by terrain, your outdoor antenna is not pointed at the transmitter, or your indoor antenna is not properly located in your home.

it is because lcd's use a digital signal,and whatever you are picking up on an aerial will be analogue unless it is from a top box.

The digital signals that TV stations switched to last year do not travel as far as analog signals causing cutouts in outlining areas. A signal booster might help.

Nine times out of ten the problem is with your cable provider, the cable box that your cable provider has given you, or one of the cables that connects from the box to your TV. That might be going out. If not, then it's one of the lamps in the LCD TV and it needs to be replaced.
