When you present the findings of a study, you must also present the "delimitations" or limitations of the study. The two terms are interchangeable. A delimitation in a study might be that only two of 100 people studied had children, or that a study covered only a period over the summer, rather than an entire year.

"Delimitation" is the same as "limitation." When reviewing the results of a study, one must consider the limits or limitations of the study, like the group studied, the length of the study, the experience of the participants, all of which can skew the results. The "delimitations of the study" are those very factors: the limitations.

Delimitations are the boundaries set by the conductor of the study. They serve to show what is being and, perhaps more importantly, what is not being studied by the research.
