Emigrant Direct is the name of Emigrant Bank's online service. Emigrant Bank itself is one of the largest savings banks in the U.S. Deriving the name from its' Irish emigrant founders.

It is an online high interest savings account. It is similar to ING direct and Smarty Pig. Emigrant Direct has a 2.00% APY (annual percentage yield). That isn't very high considering Smarty pig has a APY at 2.15 which is high for the down economy we are in. Interest is compounded daily and credited monthly.
