Gliosis is a general term that encompasses the basic process of neural scarring. It can occur to peripheral nerves, spinal motor and/or sensory tracts, or cranial nerves. Gliosis results in hardening of the structure that it affects and decreased function of that structure. ALS is a disease secondary to gliosis.

I had a brain biopsy in Feb and now the MRI says I have new underlying mild gliosis, is this from the surgery? Is it permanent? Thank you!
