HBO's "Rome" was created in collaboration with the BBC. It is based on historical events in the Roman Empire in the 1st century BC. It was considered a great ratings success for both the BBC and HBO.

Rome is a show about the fall of the Roman Republic and the rise of the first Roman emperor Augustus. It's very historical, pulling characters right out of the history books. Figures such as Julius Caesar, Pompey, Cicero, and Marc Antony all play big parts in the program. They're planning on making a film based on the show.
