The average age of the onset of menopause is in the late forties to early fifties. Some things can trigger early onset though, such as being overweight, smoking, genetics, illnesses, or surgery. Most women start menopause between the ages of forty-two and fifty-six.

The age varies greatly. Sometimes women as early as in their 30s start menopause and some women don't start until their 60s. A lot of times women start about the same age as their mother. The lenth of the complete process also varies in different women so just be patient.
