Bahia grass has the best drought tolerance of all lawngrasses grown in Florida and will usually recover from severe drought injury soon after rain or irrigation.

St. Augustine grass has adapted well to the Florida heat and grows very there. It does not require a lot of water and spread quickly.

2 grass types are commonly grown in Florida - Floratam St. Augustine grass, and Argentine Bahia grass. Floratam can be planted as sod. Argentine Bahia can be planted from seed also

I think Bahia is the best grass suited for Florida. These grass are easy to maintain, cost less and use less water.

The Florida "grass" has always been somewhat of a fraud in my estimation because the grass is so spongy and difficult to walk on.
