The big problem with scabies is getting rid of all the eggs. You will need to wash and sanitize all clothing and bedding that you have used or been exposed to. Most drug stores carry special soap to kill the mites on your skin.

Scabies is a microscopic mite that burrows into the skin to lay eggs. Scabies are becoming increasingly resistant to over the counter remedies. Tea tree oil is antibacterial and anti-fungal and is the only safe and effective treatment against scabies when applied to the skin.

The most commonly used over the counter medication is 5% permethrin cream. This cream should be applied on skin at bedtime and washed off in morning. It should be left on the skin for atleast ten to fourteen hours. The other treatments are lindane 1% cream, malathion 0.5% lotion, benzyl benzoate, crotamiton cream or lotion, sulphur-based lotions, creams or soaps.
