What is the best way to determine the resale value of jewelry?

The resale value can be determined through a formal and paid appraisal. A pawn shop will be on the extreme low side, so avoid them. A quick and easy way to get "fair market value" is to accurately describe and list on eBay (with a reserve). This will tell you what people will REALLY be willing to pay for it.

Going to a pawn shop will only guarantee that you get scammed out of what people are willing to pay you. You can try ebay or ask a seller.

Take it to a few local pawn shops. Most will have a 40% markup. Add the 40% and you'll have a pretty good estimate of retail vale, at no cost.

The value of jewelry depends on many things, including the value of any stones, the type of metal, and the age, condition, and style of the item, and whether or not that style is in fashion. If you don't know very much about jewelry, your best bet is to take it to a jeweller to be appraised.

I would imagine taking into consideration what the jewellery is made from and the amount of work that has gone into making it.
