First of all, what you might possibly want to do is contact your local fire department to see if they are looking for volunteer firefighters. Meanwhile, you can consult someone at the fire department to see if they are aware of any local schools who offer programs in fire science.

To become a firefighter most states have firefighting schools. The schools involve physical and well as academic training. Many of the courses start with fire safety, advance to fire awareness in general and the final course is advanced fire fighting.

There are no actual college courses, you will need to train with a department and go to fire school, keep up your hours and fitness, and be willing to complete paperwork.
