What is the definition of a rectangular prism?

I need to define a rectangular prism to my third grader.

It is a 3d shape made up of 6 rectangular sides. It has three dimensions (length, width and height). You can find volume by multiplying all three sides together.

Strictly speaking, right rectangular prism is a 3-dimensional object which has six faces that are rectangles. A third grader, however, might prefer to think about such prisms as shoe boxes. Right rectangular prisms are also known as cuboids. Volume of the right rectangular prism can be calculated by multiplying its length by its height by its width.

A six sided three dimensional object, where four of the faces are considered to equal in length thereby qualifying as square or longer making it a rectangle.

It is a three dimensional rectangle so it is has four rectangles around and two squares on the ends of it.
