Jews in the ancient world were awaiting a literal Kingdom of God, an earthly reign where God would be in charge and deliver them from threat or harm. Consequently, they were waiting for a warrior Messiah. Instead, they got Jesus--a pacifist-- who spoke of the Kingdom of Heaven, meaning a better way of living with/for God, beyond politics or ownership.

This is very much the same thing. It is mostly just a figure of speech which people use. Much like God and Jesus being the same. God can also be renamed as Lord, the Almighty One, our Saviour, Heavenly Father, etc. Many stories, and phrases in the Bible are worded differently but basically describe the same place, person or God.

Typically they are very close to the same thing in traditional christianity. However the term Kingdom of God also refers to God's people prior to the day of judgement.
