What is the difference between 'why' and 'how is?'

Why is more grammatically accurate because it is used when searching for an explanation. "How is" is not grammatically accurate, but when used is more often searching for a cause.

The phrase "how is" principally relates to the state of a particular subject (e.g. "How is the soup") while "why" has a much broader reach of inquiry.
