The University of New Brunswick, established in 1785 is the oldest English language university in Canada. The oldest chartered university in Canada is University of King's College, established in 1789.

The oldest chartered school in Canada is University King's College (1789). Seminaire de Quebec (1663) became Laval University (1852), the oldest French language college in Canada. University of New Brunswick (1785) is the oldest English language college. St. Mary's (1802), Dalhousie (1818) and McGill (1821) round out the "oldest" list.
