Answer by  MikeGrala (29)

Akita puppies are similar to other larger breed puppies. They are very clumsy for the first stage of their lives. They shed rapidly and they are very heavy eaters. They also need alot of nurturing due to their clumsiness. The puppy stage of an Akita is a very important bonding time for this breed as well.

Like adult Akitas, they tend to be independent and loyal and increasingly detached from others they do not consider to be familiar. They are also extremely active and difficult to restrain and need to expend much energy.

They are very curious and playful and will become extremely attached to one person only. Their loyalty will become exclusive to this person in adulthood.

Akitas are very energetic puppys. They will cause lots of trouble if not exercised and trained. However, they are adorable puppies!

All puppies go through the puppy stage where they want to bite on things because of teeth coming it, want to be disobedient because they have no training, and they have excess energy because they are young and full of life. You can train your dog starting from as young as 10 weeks.

The puppy stage for an Akita is like most other breeds. Make sure you socialize the dog well, start training early, and keep its puppy vaccination series going until it's up to date.
