What is the right spacing for a Briggs and Stratton Magneto?

I think I need to adjust the magnet in my magnet to magneto coil spacing.

The usual spacing is between one and two inches. Any more than that and the magnetos will not connect or have a weak connection. Any closer than that and they will create too much friction between them. You may want to do slight tweaks to find the best possible connection.

Depending on the what you are trying to space, the average amount of spacing is around 1-2 inches from each other. Anything less then this then will cause friction which will lessen the magnetic power of the two magnets. Two far away then they will not stick together at all.

The coil gaps needs air to circulate. The space should be just enough for air to be in when it sparks.

You will need to take the magnet apart in order to seperate the spacing. If the spacing is cracked then you can get a replacement part. Afterward you should be able to reattach the magnet and clean the coil spacing without having to separate the two magnets without breaking them.

do you mean magnet to magneto? I use one piece of printer paper folded over - about .007 inches.  add a comment
