The route command in windows has to deal with your internet and your local networks. It allows you to point different ip addresses on your network to host names, allows you to add different networks to your routing tables to be able to communicate with different computers on the network, use mainly in business settings.

Windows' route. exe manages network routing tables. A routing table enables a computer to route traffic in different ways based on the destination. For example, an internet connection can be shared from one computer to another, or one computer can make use of more than one network connection by routing traffic through different gateways. Simple firewalls can be made from routes.

The route command is simple and is as follows: route. exe. Typing that into console will execute the route command as intended. The route command blocks unwanted ips from connecting to your computer. This is incredibly useful when malware is communicating with unknown and dangerous servers which could be transmitting private data.
