That depends on the species - there's a lot of parrots that are called "parakeets". Some of the most common ones include Budgies (wingspan 25 cm, size 18 cm); Ringneck parakeets (wingspan 42-48 cm, size 40-41 cm); various species of Rosellas (wingspan around 40 cm size 26-33 cm).

There are many birds that are considered parakeets. They are small to medium parrots. Most of the parakeets you'll see are actually the English Budgerigar. These birds are between 3" to 6". Interestingly, the budgie is the second best talker of all the bird species following the African Grey.

Budgerigar, also known as the parakeet is 7". Canary-winged parakeet is 9". Monk parakeet is 11" and the Rose-ringed parakeet is 15-17". Cage should accommodate bird's wingspan.

A full grown parakeet isn't very big. It will depend on whether it is male or female, but you can expect them to run from 7 to 9 inches from beak to tail.

Average length for them is 8 inches. But can grow upto 10 inches. Males are larger than females when fully mature. In there Life cycle they sometimes lose feathers which makes them short however they are known to recover soon
