What is the size of the oil plug on my Explorer?

It should be 14mm. That's a common size for American-made drain plugs. I've also seen them 15mm and 17mm. It's possible it's a standard size, like 5/8 for an older explorer. Just try wrenches until you find one that fits.

The size of the oil plug on your Explore should be a 3/8 inch plug. It will fit with a 9/16 wrench or socket and should just turn right out.

The average size for american oil plugs is nearly 14mm. There are also some 15 mm, 16 mm and 17 mm plugs out there. Better information can be given to you if you could provide you car's model, make etc. You can get the exact information easily then, otherwise visit your local repair shop.

The oil plug on your Explorer is exactly, not an inch larger or an inch smaller than the size of the oil plug on all but the 1986 Explorer.

If you had given me the year and the engine type I could have given you a size. Typically they are a metric size of around 9mm but it can vary.
