Molly fish are pretty small so you can really use any size tank. If that is all you have I would use a 10 gallon tank because it is less of a hassle. But if you have more fish get a bigger tank.

Molly require a bit of room so a 20 gallon or above fish tank should do. They spawn quickly, and you'll need lots of extra space.

If you have only one molly in a tank, you can have a ten gallon aquarium with the proper filtration and heating set ups. The rule is one gallon of water per inch of fish (full grown), and this will give him proper room to grow and swim. Mollies will grow to 3 inches.

A normal tropical tank is fine to use with Mollies but it's best to remember that you need 20 gallons per fish so a tank that holds enough gallons per molly is the tank you will need a filter, tank light, air pump, gravel,a bubbler,a heater, flake food and plastic plants or real plants depending on what you fancy.

In my experience, mollies only do well with other mollies. They have too much attitude to mix with other fish. Get one male and then enough females to make up a ratio of one fish per gallon of whatever size tank you have. Keep it to mollies of different colors and types for variety. Any other fish will fight.

You can put a molly in a small tank with filter, but they really prefer to be housed in tanks that have more than one molly. They like groups. Don't forget to give it somewhere to hide so that it feels safe. Maybe include some artificial plants or decorations to make your pet happy.
