The government is usually the main employer for the field. They accept degrees in zoology, entomology (insects), environmental science, forestry, fisheries & wildlife, agriculture, animal husbandry, and plant or animal biology. You could spend your summers interning or volunteering for national or state parks to get a feel for it.

A good way to become a forest ranger or a wildlife conservation officer is to obtain a degree in biology from college.
