A special needs teacher will need to be incredibly patient and understanding. There job revolves around many children during the day who will test their patience constantly. They need to be kind and know that a variety of problems will crop up in their students every day. Ultimately they need to be compassionate and willing to help those less fortunate.

I think the best special need teachers are people who actually have know people with special needs such as a family member or a friend. They understand them better having more exposure and experience. They need to really love these kids and have a heart for them and know how to push them without making it stressful for them.

He or she should have patience, kindness, motivating, and nonjudgemental. It is both a rewarding and demanding job. He or she should also have the ability to work with more than one person at a time. Typically a special needs aid would work one on one, but a teacher would work with the whole class.
