Before you purchase any species of monkey, first check if they are legal in your specific city. Monkeys are very intelligent and require almost as much time as a human child does. Monkeys can be aggressive with strangers and it is difficult to find veterinary care for them.

You should consider if you have the right type of housing for a monkey. If you have the time and can put the effort into taking care of him. If there are any regulations on keeping a monkey in the home. What do monkeys eat? Do they need routinely check-ups/shots? What is their temperament like? How expensive are they?

The two biggest things to consider before buying a monkey; are you capable of caring for a monkey? Monkeys are not like a cat where you can just throw some food in bowl, scoop the litter box and pretty much forget about it, and is it legal for you to own a monkey where you live?

You had better first check and make sure it's legal to own one in your city. A monkey is an exotic pet and there are laws saying you can't have one in some cities. Monkeys also have an unpleasant smell and no matter what you do it won't go away.

You may want to find out what kind of living conditions they require, what kind of foods they may eat, and if they need shots like other animals.

I would have to consider the environment I keep it in. Also, what I have to offer it in the way of time and finances to support the care of the monkey.

monkeys are really cute but really nasty. they are hard to train and are basically like taking care of a baby. diaper changing and all. not very well behaved.
