Definitely stay off the effect area for a prolonged period of time. Soleus strains can sometimes be quite severe and it is recommended that you isolate and stabilize the area for an extended period of time, depending on the severity of the strain. Frequent icing usually helps keep the swelling down in the area.

For a soleus strain, which is a calf strain, use rest, ice, compression and elevation (RICE). I would recommend taking ibuprofen to deal with the pain. I would massage the area as well.

The first treatment for a Calf (Soleus) Strain is rest, ice, compression and elevation. If there is no improvement, seek the help of a physician.

Ice it, wrap it, rest it, keep it elevated and try not to stretch that muscle for a couple of days.

RICE - rest, ice, compression and elevation. The smaller calf muscle strain can be painful, and you should focus on taking the pressure off as soon as possible.
