You are going to want to make sure it is completely sanded down and you are going to need more than just one quick coat and think it is good. It may look good at first but you will notice that as it is drying the oak is absorbing it.

It isn't much different from any other hardwood, just sand, wipe off the dust, prime and paint. Personally, I would stain oak rather than paint it.

make sure that you prime it with a primer first. if you paint it it will take several coats but if you prime it you can do it with two.

Well to paint red oak you have to choose from a glaze that will go well with it. You also need to wipe the cabinets prior to painting.

You need to be sure that it is sanded down entirely and that you use more than one coat of paint.

You will need to use a good wood primer. This will not only help in getting a smooth even coat but helps reduce the number of coats you will need to avoid bleed through from using a dark colored wood. Primer will also help the paint stick better and last longer with out pealing or flaking.

You are just going to want to paint it like normal but you are going to need to use four to five coats because it is a soft wood.

Just like any wood it needs to prepared, if necessary, and clean. Another rule of the thumb is that primer sticks to wood and paint sticks to primer.

Well if you want to paint red oak, you probably going to need about a couple of coats to paint the substance accurately. You also need to make sure you glaze it
