According to several auto repair blogs, you'll need to use a thermostat that opens at 90 degrees (Celsius). Don't forget to replace the O-ring too!

IT is hard to say without knowing the exact year and engine your car has. Check your owners manual or contact a dealer to find out what temperature thermostat it has. Or check with the thermostat manufacturer that sell their products in your local store. The should have an assistance line to help you select the correct one.

A wahler Volvo 940 thermostat would work the best, it is approx 14 bucks on , so a fairly cheap repair.
