The sulcata tortoise can be kept quite happily as a pet. You need to provide a warm, large habitat kept at about 80 degrees. To keep their shells healthy, they need exposure to UVA and UVB light. Their primary diet consists of leafy greens such as kale and collard, with occasional unpeeled fruits and vegetables such as pears or carrots.

Your sulcata should have an evironment temp of about room temperature. Alsouse UVB bulb for lighting especially in the hatchling stage. Also do not overfeed a tortoise this can be fatal or slow development. They eat grass, weeds, and clovers, NOT ICEBERG LETTUCE
