Gumball "machines" are easy to make. You need a pot and saucer, a glass bowl proportionate in size to the pot, paint and gumballs. Invert the pot to make the opening the bottom. Paint the pot and saucer. Glue the bowl to the pot. Fill the bowl with gumballs. The inverted saucer placed over the bowl becomes the lid.

Taking the pots and painting them and decorating them for mothers day and planting seeds to sprout would be a fun craft that a mom would love to receive from their child.

First paint the pot with a white glaze made for terra cotta. Let the children paint the pots and saucers and decoupage pictures or their own design.

You'll want to use acryllic to paint the pots, tempra and oil would sink in too much. You can seal the whole pot and make it glossy with acrylic media.

Get several pots in graduated sizes. Paint them green. Invert all the pots. Place the largest one on the work surface first. Hot glue the second largest pot to the largest, and continue until all the pots have been glued into a tower. You now have a tree. Add ornaments for holidays, birds for spring, hearts for Valentine's Day, etc.
