As a Dominion of the British Empire, Canada was automatically included in the British declaration of war on Aug. 4, 1914. The Canadian Governor General issued a separate declaration of war the next day. Canadian soldiers fought as separate units, mainly on the Western Front. About 67,000 Canadians died.

Canada played a big role in the war. They were part of the campaign on the Western Front and were Battle of Neuve Chapelle and the Second Battle of Ypres. In fact, at Ypres, they were the first soldiers to be subject to German gas warfare.

Canada provided many troops in support of Britain and the Commonwealth and Canada's forces where instrumental in driving back German forces. Major battles included Vimy Ridge, and Passchendaele.

Being a Dominion of the British Empire in nada was called to arms When Britain declared war on Germany on August 4, 1914.The Canadian Expeditionary Force was formed , And sent to France.The Canadian Corps fought bravely among the British, And French Allies. Most notably at the battles of Neuve Chapelle,Second Battle of Ypres ,And The Battle of the Somme.

Canada helped out on World War 1 by helping the United States on the air and sea and by sending troops to help us out and to show that they cooperate with the United State and they will always stand by are side when it comes to wars and political situations.
