The First Fleet was a fleet of 11 ships that sailed from Britain to Botany Bay, Australia to establish a European settlement and convict colony. They set sail in May 1787 with about 1,500 people, arriving at their destination in January 1788. The Fleet was lead by Captain Arthur Phillip.
