Perhaps the most famous battle of the War of 1812 ironically took place after the war was over. The Battle of New Orleans, led on the American side by Andrew Jackson, was a great American victory. Aditionally, the attack on Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor inspired Francis Scott Key to pen "The Star Spangled Banner."
